COOK, FRAISE, JONES, PORTER AND HILLMAN TAKE MOUNTAIN-DEW
BLOOMFIELD SPEEDWAY CHECKERS

BLOOMFIELD, Ia (June 9, 2006) - The Casey`s General Stores USRA Weekly Racing
Series back in action with the USRA Hobby Stocks, USRA Stock Cars, USRA
Modifieds along with the Hornets and Mid-America 305 Winged Sprints in action
for Crop Service night at the races. The forecast of rain and clouds in the area
racing action was wrapped up and people back on the road at 10:30pm with five
classes in action.
The night started off with the Mid-America 305 Winged Sprint Car feature first on the card with sixteen winged warriors checked in for action. The night didn`t start off very good with the red flag stopping racing action with Brian Ridge of Ottumwa along with Kevin Tanner of Russell getting upside down in turns three and four. Tanner exited his 33 machine and was okay with Ridge having to be transported to the Davis County Hospital by the Davis County EMS crew. When the racing action restarted John Hillman of Jefferson City,Mo. shoot out to the race lead. Hillman would lead all fifteen laps for his first ever 305 feature win. Rob Kubli of Milo closed in on Hillman on lap eleven in turns three and four but lap traffic caused Kubli to lose the second spot to Shawn Deman of Knoxville who worked lap traffic to his advantage to take home the second spot. Kubli took the third spot with Matt Stephenson of Des Moines taking the fourth spot. The Haines Auto Supply Hard Luck Award went to Logan Trueblood of Memphis,Mo with the Oskaloosa Gas and Oil mystery spot went to Steve Breazeale of Trento,Mo. who finished fifth. The Lancaster Oil Hard Charge award went to Jerry Crabb of Chartion and the First Choice Reality mystery spot went to Kevin Tanner for the thirteenth starting spot.
In the Kirkland Auto USRA Hobby Stock feature it was the second feature of the night going fifteen laps with Jim Sulser of Centerville and Jim Walker of Mystic and Bill Gibson of Knoxville battling for the race lead for the first six laps before Ben Jones of Williamsburg closed in for the race lead with the all four drivers along with Ray Lasser Jr. of Ottumwa and Nathan Wood of Sigourney, Mark Moore of Ottumwa and Gary Harward of Bloomfield battling for the fourth and fifth spot. Jones would make the pass on the highside of turn four on lap twelve and lead the final three laps for his second straight win. Walker took the second spot with Gibson taking third and Harward in fourth. Sulers good run ended with mechanical trouble on lap thirteen to end his good run finishing in sixteenth.
The third feature of the night was the Kollision Korner Hornets with David Probasco of Moulton taking the early race lead with Dale Porter of Floris and Tom Irwin of Bloomfield closing in on Probasco for the race lead but mechanical trouble would end Probasco nights sending him to the pits. Porter would take the lead with Tom Irwin and Larry Hopkins of Ottumwa battling for the second spot before Irwin took the second spot and tried to close in on the 31 machine of Porter. The white flag flew with Irwin closing in on the back bumper of Porter and the two raced to the checkers with Porter taking the win by three feet over Tom Irwin. Irwin took a close second followed by Hopkins in third and Matt Moore of Ottumwa taking home the fourth spot.
In the fourth feature it was the always thrilling Hougland Repair Shop USRA Stock Car Feature going eighteen laps with Mike Robinson of Moravia and Jason Cook of West Point battling for the race lead with Pat Rachels of Knoxville and Chris Hawkins of Drakesville making it four wide for the race lead in turns one and two bring the crowd to it`s feet. Robinson would take the lead on lap five and looked to have the 78r hookedup and going to victory lane but on lap eleven of the eighteen lap event Jason Cook of Mt. Pleasant worked the bottom of the speedway to take the topspot from Robinson. Cook and Robinson would exchange the lead the next two laps before Jason Cook took command and lead the final five laps for the win after starting nineth. Robinson and Rachels battled for the second spot the final five laps with Robinson hanging on to the second spot with Rachels in third and Matt Greiner of Washington taking the fourth spot.
The final feature of the night was the Spilman Auto Parts USRA Modified feature with Michael Long of Quincy, Il. taking the race lead with Dennis Elliott of Mt.Ayr running second. Tony Fraise of Donnellson took the lead on lap five and powered the 45 machine to victory lane with Long and Elliott going wheel-to-wheel for the second spot with Long in second with Elliott in third and rookie driver Jeremy Townsend of Bloomfield coming home in the fourth position.

Racing Series in the hobby stocks, stock cars and modifieds along with the
hornets in action with hot laps at 7:00PM and racing action at 7:30pm.
