MATHER TAKES THIRD STRAIGHT WIN AND $1000 IN STOCK CAR
SHOOTOUT
AT MOUNTAIN-DEW BLOOMFIELD SPEEDWAY

BLOOMFIELD, IA (June 30, 2006) - The month of June came to a end with a bang and
getting ready for the month of July with fans having the opportunity to see five
classes of action with two special big money classes in action sponsored by Troy
Elevator and Stop-N-Go Drive Thru night at the races. The Casey`s General Stores
Great American Stock Car Shootout with the winner getting $1000 and hobby winner
getting $400.
In the first feature the Spilman Auto Parts USRA Modifieds took to the track
with Jared Durbin of Ft.Madison taking the green from the pole position and
leading all fifteen laps for his second ever feature win and both coming at the
Mountain-Dew Bloomfield Speedway.Dennis Elliott of Mt.Ayr worked his way from
the fifth spot to take second passing Casey Lancaster with four laps remaining
with Lancaster taking third and veteran racer Jerry Pilcher taking fourth after
starting ninth.
The second feature was the Mid-America 305 Winged Sprint Car feature with Logan
Trueblood of Memphis,Mo. leading the field to the green for sixteen laps of open
wheel excitement. Steve Breazeale of Trenton,Mo. took the lead in turns three
and four and lead all sixteen laps for his third win of 2006 season. Jeff
Mitrisin of Oskaloosa was back in action after winning the Tuesday night sprint
show at the Scotland County Fair in Memphis,Mo. he was piloting the 83 machine
for the injured Brian Ridge of Ottumwa and worked his way from tenth to second
but couldn't`t catch a break with the feature going green to checkered and
settled for second. Shawn Deman of Knoxville had another good run in the 16
machine taking home the third spot with Mark Widmar of Ottumwa taking fourth.
The First Choice Reality of Ottumwa mystery spot went to Logan Trueblood and the
Lancaster Oil Company Hard Charger award went to Jeff Mitrisin who passed eight
cars on the march forward. The Haines Auto Supply Hard Luck Award went to Jamie
Needham of Moline,Il. who fought a power steering problem all night long.
Our third feature was the Kollision Korner Hornets going eight laps with Brent
Hartley of Niota,Il. taking his first win after two tries at the Mountain-Dew
Bloomfield Speedway. Dale Porter of Floris took the second spot holding off the
11 machine of Larry Hopkins who took third with last weeks feature winner Tom
Irwin of Bloomfield taking fourth.
The fourth feature was the Kirkland Auto USRA Hobby Stock Shootout for $400 to
win with Nathan Wood of Sigourney leading all eighteen laps for the win. The
battle for second was between Mike Shelton of Ottumwa and Gary Harward of
Bloomfield with Shelton taking the second spot with Harward in third and Mark
Moore of Ottumwa in fourth. After the feature in post race inspection Nathan
Wood was disqualified for illegal rear-end gear and Shelton was awarded the win
and all drivers moved up one spot.
The final feature of the night was the one everyone was wanting to see the third
night of seven contiuous nights of racing action for the Casey`s General Store
USRA Great American Stock Car Shootout with $1000 going to the winner in the
Hougland Repair Shop USRA Stock Car main event. Two experienced stock car
drivers lead the field to the green for twenty-five laps of door-to-door and
wheel-to-wheel excitment with Tom Schmitt of Independence and Steve Jackson of
Des Moines with Scmitt taking the race lead and would lead tll lap nineteen
before caution would fly. This would close the field up,setting the field for a
six lap run to the checkers with Scmitt diving down to the bottom of the
speedway in turns one and two on the restart. Colt Mather of Webster would us
the highside to his advantage making the pass off turn two on the highside to
take the race lead and hold off Schmitt for his third straight win at Bloomfield
and the $1000 payday for the rokkie making it his eight of the season. Schmitt
took second just like on Thursday night at the Hancock County Speedway in Britt.
Pat Rachels who scored the win on Wedensday night at the Southern Iowa Speedway
took third after starting tenth and Bert McDaniel of Eldon worked the bottom
side of the speedway for a run from twelveth to fourth with eight drivers
following the series it has made for some exciting racing action with three
diffrent winners in three night.
Next weeks racing action will feature five classes in action with the Keith`s
Foods Late Model series back in action with the Casey`s General Stores USRA
weekly point series back in action with hot laps at 7:00pm and racing action at
7:30pm at the Mountain-Dew Bloomfield Speedway.
