SHRYOCK KEEPS STREAK ALIVE WITH 4 WINS;
SULSER TAKES FIRST EVER WIN AT BLOOMFIELD SPEEDWAY

BLOOMFIELD, IA (April 20) - The season opener at the Mountain Dew Bloomfield Speedway was held with a great crowd on had to see the opener along with the cars and stars of the O'Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series in action. In the USRA B-Mods Ottumwa driver Paul Underwood passed Cody Townsend for the win.

In the hornet division Ryan Yahnke of Bloomfield passed Gene Irwin of Bloomfield on the fourth lap and lead the final six laps for his first ever win. Ryan Moore of Centerville took the second spot with Jimmy Garrett of Ottumwa in third and Matt Moore of Ottumwa in fourth.

The USRA stock car was a thriller with three and four wide racing along with Chris Leather of Callao, Mo. trying to exit the racing surface in turn three after climbing the fence on lap three. This brought the field to a stop with the red flag and Leathers wasn't hurt in the accident. After racing action resumed Michael McClure of Bloomfield, Shane Weller of Agency, Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon,Mike Robinson of Moravia and Jason Cook of Mt. Pleasent all battled for the lead with Mike Robinson working his 78r machine into the lead with only three laps remaining in the fifteen lap main event for the win. VanderBeektook second with Michael Mcclure in third and Weller taking the fourth spot.

The USRA hobby stock feature was won by Jim Sulser of Centerville who raced Todd Reitzler of Grinnell to the finish line and the margin of victory was less than three inches. This was Sulsers first win in years of racing the 11s mopar machine. Reitzler took a very close second place finish after leading all fourteen laps of the fifteen lap main event. Jim Walker of Mystic and Dustin Griffiths battled for the third spot with Walker taking third and Griffiths in fourth.

The final feature of the night was the O'Reilly Auto Parts USMTS 35 lap main event with twenty-four of the best modifieds in the country trying to cash in on the $2000 payday. The pole car of Richie Gustin of Gilmar took the lead and paced the field the first three laps before Kelly Shryock of Fertile took the lead and lead till Al Hejna of Clear Lake took the lead from Shryock but something in the rear end would end his night giving the lead back to Shryock on lap thirty with Kelly leading the final five laps crossing the line for his fourth straight win. Gustin made the pass off turn four for the runner-up spot and Jason Hughes of Colcord, Ok. battling his way from the tail after making contact with another car on lap nine. Hughes took the third spot with Michael Long of Quincy, Il. taking fourth after starting 14th spot and fifth going to Mark Burgtorf after starting 13th. Next week will feature the high powered and full bodied USRA Late Models battling for a $3000 top prize along with the five other classes in action
