CHRIS CONQUERS CHAD IN THRILLING SIMPSONS EPISODE AT
BLOOMFIELD
by: Tony Paris
BLOOMFIELD, Iowa (May 25) - Chris Simpson of Marion captured the USRA Late Model
feature Friday at the Mountain Dew Bloomfield Speedway in Bloomfield, Iowa.
Simpson held off his brother and current USRA Late Model national points leader,
Chad Simpson, for the win while Chris Smyser of Lancaster, Mo., finished third.
Nick Marolf of Moscow brought home a fourth-place paycheck, while Denny
Woodworth of Mendon, Ill., rounded out the top-5 finishers.
Other USRA Casey’s General Stores Weekly Racing Series winners on the night
included (USRA Modifieds), Matt Greiner of Washington (USRA Stock Cars), Andrew
Schroeder of Keswick (USRA B-Mods), Jason McDaniel of Eldon (USRA Hobby Stocks)
and Dale Porter of Pulaski (Hornets).
Michael Long of Quincy, Ill., picked up the Spilman Auto Parts USRA Modified
feature win with a little help from runner-up finisher Tony Fraise. Long
suffered mechanical problems during hot laps, b but was able to repair his
machine with the help of Fraise's team, which gave Long the part he needed to
repair his USRA Modified. Vance Wilson of Frankford, Mo., finished third,
Washington's Brandon Banks was fourth and Jamie Wilson of Quincy, Ill., finished
fifth.
Matt Greiner of Washington made it two in a row in the USRA Stock Car ranks,
holding off Webster's Colt Mather for the win. The feature turned into a
five-car battle at the front with Mather grabbing the early lead with Tyler
McClure, Ben Jones, Mike Robinson and Greiner running two- and three-wide for
second. Greiner, however, emerged from his eighth starting spot to pick up the
win over Mather. Robinson, McClure and Jones finished in the third through fifth
spots, respectively.
Andrew Schroeder of Keswick took the checkered flag in the USRA B-Mod feature,
but was disqualified during post-race technical inspection for an illegal
carburetor, giving the win to Ottumwa's Paul Underwood. Cody Townsend of
Bloomfield finished second.
Eldon's Jason McDaniel and Knoxville's Bill Gibson had a fierce battle in the
USRA Hobby Stock feature. Gibson was working the top of the speedway, with
McDaniel working the middle as the two ran side by side for the last half of the
race. McDaniel emerged from turn 4 on the last lap to win. Wade Francis of
Eddyville snared third, Mike Shelton of Ottumwa’s was fourth and Moravia's Jimmy
Hayes rounded out the top-5.
Dale Porter of Pulaski came from last and passed Gene Irwin of Bloomfield with
two laps to go to pick up the Kollision Korner Hornet feature win. Ryan Moore of
Centerville, Jim Garrett of Ottumwa and Kevin Garrett of Bloomfield finished
third through fifth, respectively.
Next week at the Mountain Dew Bloomfield Speedway will feature the USRA Casey’s
