BLOOMFIELD, Iowa (June 8) -- The USRA Casey' General Stores Weekly Racing Series
was in action Friday at the Mountain Dew Bloomfield Speedway, along with the
traveling Mid-America 305 Winged Sprint Cars in action at the fast 3/8-mile
speedway for Fast Track Friday Night action with four new faces and two repeat
winners.
The first feature was the Kollision Korner Hornets with Dale Porter taking the
checkers for the second straight week.
In the USRA Stock Cars, rookie driver Ben Jones showed the guys that a rookie
can hold his own and picked up his first win by holding off Chris Hawkins. Phil
and Tyler McClure took the third and fourth spots.
The USRA B-Mods saw Paul Underwood increase his points lead by taking his second
straight win.
The Mid-America 305 Winged Sprint Cars staged a thriller with several close
battles and several slide jobs. Mitchell Alexander paced the field the first six
laps before engine trouble ended his night, giving the lead to Steve Breazeale,
but Matt Stephenson worked the bottom to make the pass and take home the
victory. Louis Lynch grabbed the second spot and Mark Widmar picked up the extra
$50 from Steve Park of Laplander Racing for passing seven cars and finishing
third. Logan Trueblood took the fourth spot.
The USRA Modified feature went to Tony Fraise, who lead every lap for the win.
Mark Burgtorf raced his way from the tail after a flat tire forced him to the
back but still took the runner-up spot. Scott Dickey was third with last year's
track champion, Dennis Elliott, taking the fourth spot.
The final feature was the USRA Hobby Stock main event with Jim Walker taking the
win. Chase Mitrisin took the second spot with Jason McDaniel taking the third
spot and Don Nunnikhoven in fourth.
