DAVIS COUNTY FAIR CHECKERS GOTO YAHNKE, NUNNIKHOVEN, SCHROEDER, MITRISIN, LYNCH AND STEPHENSON By: Tony Paris BLOOMFIELD, IA (July 11) - The 2008 Davis County Fair race was a very special night, with a very emotional night with the races being dedicated in memory of the sixteen year old Jordan Johnson who lost his life on Monday evening. Several drivers made there way thru the crowd collecting donations for the Johnson Family with father Toby Johnson of Eldon in action in the stock car division. The Success Bank of Bloomfield gave the young race fans a chance at winning some money with the traditional nickel scramble on the front stretch. The Kollision Korner mini-stock feature saw Ryan Yahnke of Bloomfield take his second straight win after coming from the eighth starting spot. Andrew Hustead of Colony, Mo. Took the second spot followed by Ryan Moore of Centerville in third and Bloomfield driver Kevin Garrett in fourth. The Mikel’s Inc. USRA hobby stock feature saw Don Nunnikhoven of Kellogg lead all twelve laps for the win. Derek Kirkland of Centerville taking the second spot with Jason McDaniel of Eldon in third and Mark Moore of Ottumwa in fourth. The Bennett Racing Supplies USRA b-modifieds went to Andrew Schroeder of Keswick with Mike Shelton of Bloomfield taking the second spot followed by Mike Wanders of Oskaloosa in third and Ottumwa racer Paul Underwood in fourth. In the Taylor Automotive and Lee Construction stock car division Brian Mitrisin keep the 12m collection the winning after topping the field on Wednesday night at the Southern Iowa Speedway in the great American stock car shootout and made another trip to victory lane taking the fair honors. Ben Jones of Williamsburg and Mike Robinson of Moravia battling for the second spot with Jones making the pass off turn four for the second spot with Robinson in third and Mike Harward of Floris in fourth. The Pepsi Cola A-modifieds saw Jim Lynch of Bloomfield take the checkers for the third times in four races. After the race in victory lane Lynch donated all his winnings for the night to the Johnson Family in Memory of Jordan. Casey Lancaster of Glenwood, Mo taking the second spot and the only other driver to visit victory lane was Jason Murray of Hartford who settled for the third spot and Kirk Hopkins of Bloomfield in fourth. The final feature of the night was the Mid-America 305 Winged Sprints feature with Chad Huston of Jamesport, Mo. And Josh Padelford of Pleasantville leading the field to the green for the sixteen lap event. Padelford taking the lead into turns one and two and paced the field the first seven laps before caution would fly for the #7 machine of Tasker Phillips of Pleasantville spinning after contact with the 7h of Chad Huston. On the restart Padelford would restart with Matt Stephenson of Des Moines getting a good restart and him and Padelford would battle for the lead with Stephenson taking the lead and would lead the final seven laps holding off a late race charge from Cedar Rapids driver Justin Gianetto who took the second spoit with Padelford in third and Huston in fourth and current point leader Louis Lynch of Glenwood, Mo. Taking the fifth spot. Next week will feature five classes in action at the Mountain-Dew Bloomfield Speedway with hot laps at 7:00pm and racing action to follow.
