WILD NIGHT OF ACTION FOR FAST TRACK FRIDAY’S AT BLOOMFIELD SPEEDWAY

BLOOMFIELD, IA (June 25) - Racing action at the Mountain-Dew Bloomfield Speedway was held sponsored by Triple B Farms, Hoskins Elevator, Crop Services and Pepsi-Cola. With all five classes in action. The larking of the full moon over turn one who would of thought it would be a crazy night in all classes.

The first feature was the Taylor Automotive Stock Car division with Shane Weller of Agency taking the early lead and would pace the field till a lap five caution for Riley Newton who spun in turn four but the action heated up with Weller and Mike Van Genderen making contact in turn two with Weller hitting the infield tire and damage the front end of his machine. This would setup a six lap battle with Van Genderen taking the win. Tyler McClure would take the second spot with Ben Jones in third and Mike Harward in fourth and Weller racing back to fifth from the rear of the field.

The Kollison Korner mini-stock feature saw Cassidy Kirkpatrick take the early race lead but the red flag would stop the action for almost an hour for female driver Dawn Bonjour who it one of the MUSCO light poles in turn two. Bonjour was transported to Davis County Hospital by ambulance for observation. We action resumed Kirkpatrick and Devin Still would tangle for the lead with Kirkpatrick spinning bring out the caution and would retire his machine to the pits. Still would take the win his second at the Bloomfield Speedway. Mike Fisher took the second spot with Trent Orwig in third and Larry Hopkins in fourth.

The Karr Collision Center Hobby Stock feature was a thriller with Derek Kirkland of Centerville holding off several challenges from several drivers to take the checkers. Michael Peterson of Montezuma would spin on the first lap sending him to the back but when the checkers flew Peterson took the runner-up spot with Dale Porter of Bloomfield in third and Matt Snyder of Kirksville, Mo taking fourth. The red flag would over take the checker flag for a car rolling on the front-stretch with Vick Sanders of Albia being able to walk away unhurt but his car wasn’t so lucky.

The Golden Furrow Fertilizer B-Mods saw Jason McDaniel of Eldon lead all twelve laps for the win. McDaniel held off Mike Shelton of Bloomfield who took the second spot. On lap seven on the restart a caution flag would fly when Curtis Van Der Wal of Oskaloosa and Rocky Fosdyck of Selma would make contact causing a ten car pileup but six cars was able to restart. Fosdyck and Van Der Wal would race back to finish third and fourth.

In the Slayton Polaris A-Modified divison Jim Lynch of Bloomfield would take the early race lead with Mark Widmar of Ottumwa and Brandon Banks of Washington making it a good three car battle but Widmar would find the high line to pay off and scored his first win in the 7W machine. Widmar held off Banks who run second till lap twelve when he hooked a rut and Steven Blattler of Oskaloosa took the second spot from Banks who finished in the fourth spot. Dennis Elliot of Mt. Ayr would pass Banks on the final corner for the third spot.

Reminder no races due to the Fort Bloomfield Rodeo and racing action will return for two exciting nights of action for the 2010 Davis County Fair with Ideal Ready Mix Winged 360 Sprint Invaders along with B-Mods in action on July 8th and July 9th will be Success Bank fair race with all five classes in action with hot laps at 7:00PM and racing action at 7:30PM on each night.
