CJ Speedway kicks 2009 season Friday, April 24

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, IA (April 20) – Engines will be revving up this
Friday, April 24 at the Columbus Speedway when the track begins its 2009
season.
Under the promotership of Don and Sharon Wood and Brian and Amanda Tipps the
4/10 mile semi banked dirt track will see Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, hobby
stocks, 4 cylinders and mod lites competing for track championships.
Also planned for this season will be a number of special shows including the
Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders on Friday, May 22 and Sat., Sept. 5, the AMA
Pro Am Motorcycle Series on Sat., May 31 and Sat., Oct. 31, and the East
Central Tractor Pullers Thurs., July 30 during Louisa County Fair week. The
track will also play host to a Fireman’s Demo Derby on Sat., Aug. 1.
The season opens this Friday with its first points race and will feature the
Ron Kirkpatrick Memorial Night with $1000 added to the purse from Island
Auto Salvage. The 2008 Miss Muscatine will sing the National Anthem.
For kids under 14, there is lots of fun and activities planned including
gunny sack racing, candy dash, kid rides in race cars and much more.
Races are held every Friday night with pit gates opening at 5:30, hot laps
at 7:00 and races starting at 7:30. For more information go to
