By Dana Royer/CJ Speedway

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, IA (May 22) – The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invades made their first of two appearances at Columbus Junction’s CJ Speedway on Friday, May 22. West Burlington’s Matt Rogerson came away with the win in the twenty lap, twenty three car field, and now leads the series in the point standings. Ben Wagoner and Rogerson set the pace for the start of the sprint feature with Wagoner taking the early lead. A red flag on lap three stopped the action when Kaley Gharst took a flip on the back stretch taking him out of the race. When action restarted, Rogerson took over the lead and would pull away from the field running into lap traffic by lap nine. With Rogerson out in front, Joey Mougon passed eleven cars to move in to the second spot, but Rogerson had too much of lead and had to settle for second as Rogerson took the checkered flag. Ben Wagoner, Manny Rockhold and bobby Mincer rounded out the top five.

In heat race action Dustin Selvage took the checkered in heat number 1. Rogerson won the second heat of the night that saw John Schulz take a wild ride out of turn one after hitting the tire barrier and heat three went to Rockhold. The Shake Up Dash went to Wagoner.

TJ Garrison, Wapello, got his first win of the year winning the 4 Cylinder twelve lap feature. Wayne Noble took the early lead battling Garrison early on. The two raced side by side, bumper for the first eight laps exchanging positions three times. Garrison took the final lead of the race on lap seven and by lap nine was pulling away from the field. Garrison went on to take the checkered flag by several car lengths, Noble finished second and Yakle won the battle for third.

Justin Bucholz took the lead from Darrin Norton on lap 2 of the twelve lap, sixteen car Mod Lite feature.
