COLUMBUS JUNCTION, IA (June 29) - It’s been a tough year for promoters, fans
and racers at CJ Speedway with only four of the first ten scheduled races
being held do to rain, and last week, June 26, due to flooding of the Louisa
County Fairgrounds.
A lot of work and hours have been put in to re-clean the facilities and
prepare the track for this Friday’s races. The weather man says its clear
skies and temps in the 80’s (as of now) for this week and just in time for
the CJ Speedway Firecracker 25 on Friday, July 3 and sponsored by Wapello
Auto Parts. The 25 lap IMCA Stock Car feature will pay $600 to win in the
draw and redraw show. Additional money has also been added to the Modified,
4 cylinder and mod lite purse.
Lil’ Racer Car Club will be having a HUGE candy dash, sponsored by Mr. and
Mrs. Gene Arnold and Kip McConahay of Wapello and there will be fireworks
after the races to get race fans in the Fourth of July Celebration spirit.
With four point races in the books current leaders include Trent Vrchoticky
(IMCA Stock Cars), Bruce Hanford (modifieds), Bill Whalen, Jr. (4
cylinders), Rob Guss (mod lites) and Lane Kauffman (hobby
