CJ Speedway season gets underway with first race April 23

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, IA (April 12) - After struggling with the weather in
their first year of promoting the CJ Speedway in 2009, promoters Brian and
Amanda Tipps and Don and Sharon Wood hope mother nature is a little more
cooperative in 2010. After too many rainouts to mention and one flooded
grounds in 2009 the hope is for better weather and exciting season at 4/10
mile.
Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks, Mod Lites and 4 Cylinders will
take to the track every Friday night starting April 23 with its first points
races. Gates will open at 5:30 with hot laps at 7:00 and racing action to
start at 7:30.
Sunday, April 18 the track will hold its annual car show starting at noon.
Winners will be announced at 2:00 and practice sessions for all classes of
cars will be held from 3-6.(Note- this is a time change from the original
announcement). Admission is free to the car show and practice session. A
$15.00 pit pass will be required for the pit area.
Mark your calendars for several special events at CJ Speedway this year.
Friday, May 28th the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders will return to thrill
the crowds. Friday, July 2 will be the 2nd annual Firecracker 25 with a 25
lap IMCA Stock Car feature. The ground will be shaking on Thursday, July 29
when late models will converge on the Louisa County Fairgrounds for the Corn
Belt Clash Late Model Series competing for the $2000 to win prize. The Corn
Belt Clash is unique compared to other Late Model series, in that it
provides an opportunity for Late Model Drivers and teams all over Iowa and
the surrounding states to come and race together, regardless of what rules
package they normally race under.
The 2010 season will end on Friday Sept. 3 with Season Championship night
for 4 cylinders, hobby stocks, IMCA stock cars, mod lites and the return of
the Sprint Invaders Lets go racing!!
