McLaughlin Celebrates Deery Win at Davenport

DAVENPORT, IA (April 14, 2005) - Boone McLaughlin celebrated Good Friday in style as winner of the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series race held at the Davenport Speedway. The Mediapolis, Ia. driver was so elated by the feature win, he had his left arm out of the car waving to the fans as he took the checkered flag.

Greg Kastli of Waterloo, led the first twenty-three laps of the feature, after starting on the outside pole. McLuaghlin, who started seventh, stuck to the bottom of the race track and slowly made his way forward. On lap twenty-four of the 50-lap main, McLaughlin made the pass on Kastli on the inside and would never be challenged again.

Bobby Toland of Milan, Ill. started one spot ahead of McLaughlin and would stay close enough to the leader, to finish second. The all-time leader in Deery wins, Jeff Aikey finished third with Tom Darbyshire and Mike Smith rounding out the top five.
Rock Island’s Mark Preston finished sixth, with Rob Toland, Deery Series’ point leader entering the night, finishing seventh. IMCA late model heat winners were Aikey, Rob Toland, Preston, Kastli, and Darrel DeFrance, Terry Neal and Jay Johnson were semi-feature winners.

A huge field of V-8 modifieds were on hand, in anticipation of next week’s Mississippi Outlaw Modified Challenge. The Outlaw Challenge will pay $2000 to the mod winner.

Andy Cook sealed the deal by taking the lead from Chuck Hanna in the Modified main. Cook then managed to hold off Hanna, Jerry Connors, and John Bull, for the win. After a front row start, Hanna held on for second, with Bull third and Connors fourth. Tim Bradley completed the top five.

Jerry Pratt battled his way through the field to win the street stock feature. Pratt had to work for the win, holding off Jon Poll to take the checkers. Finishing behind the lead duo were Mike Driscoll in third, Corey Booth fourth, and Arthur Carle fifth. Driscoll and Terry Rittmer each collected a street stock heat race win.

B-mods completed the show with Craig Crawford taking the win. Chris Zogg stormed his way through the field, but would settle for second. Lane Swearinger, B.J. Jackson, and Kevin Dickey took third through fifth respectively.
