Webster City Deery canceled; series to
open with April 14-15 twinbill at 34, Quincy
WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (April 3) – Same song, different verse.
Saturday night’s Deery Brothers Summer Series event at Hamilton County Speedway
has joined the list of early race season cancellations. Nearly two inches of
rain fell overnight in Webster City and forecasts calling for less than ideal
condi tions leading up to the weekend didn’t give promoter Al Uhrhammer much
hope the track surface could be ready for the planned April 7 IMCA Sunoco Late
Model tour opener.
The race will not be rescheduled.
The 21st annual series is now slated to start with a doubleheader on Saturday,
April 14 at 34 Raceway in West Burlington and Sunday, April 15 at Quincy, Ill.,
Raceway.
Pit gates at 34 will open at 4 p.m., with 6:30 p.m. hot laps and 7 p.m. racing.
Gates at Quincy open at 4 p.m., hot laps start at 6 p.m. and racing is at 6:30
p.m.
Wet weather also put the kibosh to IMCA specials last weekend at Buena Vista
Raceway in Alta, Boone Speedway and Marshalltown Speedway, as well as the
regular season opener at Benton County Speedway in Vinton.
