Cresco, Fayette County doubleheader next for Deery Brothers Summer Series 

CRESCO, Iowa (June 8) – The Deery Brothers Summer Series ends lengthy absences from two tracks during a June 16-17 doubleheader. 

Cresco Speedway hosts the IMCA Late Model tour for the Tuesday show and the green flag flies on Wednesday at Fayette County Speedway in West Union. Both features pay $2,000 to win and a minimum of $250 to start. 

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. at Cresco. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. 

Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $5 for kids 6-12 and five and under get in free. 

At West Union, pit gates and the grandstand open at 5:30 p.m. and hot laps are at 7 p.m., with racing to fol low. Admission to the grandstand is $15 for adults, $5 for kids 6-11 and five and under are free. 

Pit passes both nights are $25. More information about the Cresco event is available by calling 515 297-3870 and about the West Union race by calling 563 379-1979. 

Three previous series events have been held at Cresco Speedway. Jay Johnson of West Burlington won the first, in 1988, while Gary Webb of Blue Grass topped 1995 and 1996 races. 

The former Fayette County Raceway has hosted four Deery dates. Mark Burgtorf of Quincy, Ill., won the most recent of those races, in 1998. 

Oelwein’s Dan Forsyth made the short tow to win at West Union in 1994. Five-time series champion and cur rent point leader Jeff Aikey of Waterloo topped 1995 and 1996 events. 

An average of 48 Late Models have been in the pits through the first five events in the 23rd annual series. Burgtorf has won two of those features, while Jason Frankel of Quincy, Tommy Elston of Keokuk and Josh Most of Red Oak have each won once. 

Following the Cresco-West Union twinbill is the July 1 series show at Independence Mo tor Speedway.
