Rescheduled Cresco, Marshalltown dates next for Deery Brothers Late Model Series

CRESCO, Iowa (August 22) – Rescheduled races at Cresco Speedway and Marshalltown Speedway are next on the schedule for the Deery Brothers Summer Series.

The IMCA Late Model tour is at Cresco next Tuesday, Aug. 25 and at Marshalltown a week later for a Sept. 1 show.

Both main events pay $2,000 to win and a minimum of $250 to start.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. at Cresco. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and rac ing starts at 7 p.m.

Three previous series events have been held at Cresco. Jay Johnson of West Burlington won the first, in 1988, while Gary Webb of Blue Grass topped 1995 and 1996 races.

Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. at Marshalltown. Hot laps begin at 6:30 p.m. and racing gets underway at
7 p.m.

Curt Martin of Independence has won five of the 18 Deery races there.

The Cresco date was rained out and rescheduled from June 16.
Marshalltown fell to wet weather on Aug. 19.

Five time series champion and current point leader Jeff Aikey of Waterloo has won four of the last six series events. Jason Frankel of Quincy, Ill., is 31 points back and Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Ill., is another seven mark ers off the pace.

The 23rd annual series concludes with races Sept. 5 at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Sept. 6 at Quincy, Ill., Raceway, Sept. 7 during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals at Boone Speedway, and the $10,000 to win Pepsi USA Nationals Sept. 18-19 at 34 Raceway in West Burlington.
