LATE MODELS, SIX OTHER DIVISIONS IN ACTION FOR DUPACO
100.7/THE FOX FREE RACE THIS FRIDAY

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (June 12) - The Performance Concepts Late Models return
to ASA- Sanctioned Hawkeye Downs Speedway this Friday night along with Miller
Time Modifieds, Budweiser Sportsmen, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, Barron
Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, Sunline Hornets and IMCA Sportmods.
This race event is the annual Dupaco/ “100.7 The Fox” (KKRQ-FM) Free Race. The
staff of "The Fox" have been busy handing out tickets for this event for the
past several weeks and listeners can still tune in to find out where to obtain
free tickets.
For those unable to obtain free tickets, regular admission will be available at
the usual prices.
The point races remain tight in almost every division including the newest
division in competition at Hawkeye Downs, the IMCA Sportmods. Ryan Luedtke and
Tony Olson are tied at the top of the chart with 171 points. Arnie Reif is just
two points behind the leaders.
Brian Beaty leads the pack in Sunline Hornets with teammate Shawn Myers just
three markers behind. Brad Chandler is five points behind the leader and holds
down the third position.
In the Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, Tim Dains holds a three point
margin over Gary Pfantz with Dennis Klinsky nine points off the pace.
The Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars have a logjam on the points chart with
Doug Otto on top with 183 points. The next four drivers are separated by one
point each through fifth place.
Moving to the half-mile divisions, David McCalla holds a one point cushion over
Andy Duggan in Budweiser Sportsmen. Mel Schappert sits in third place, five
points behind the leader.
Tim Plummer continues to lead the way in Miller Time Modifieds although he’s
only ahead of Arlo Becker by two points. Chad Willett is in third, three points
behind the defending champion Plummer.
The Performance Concepts Late Models, which are running a limited schedule this
season, were rained-out in there previous scheduled appearance. They will
qualify by time and run a feature with the length determined by the number of
entries.
Gates open and Practice begins at 6pm with opening ceremonies at 7pm.
