IMCA DIRT LATE MODELS HEADLINE TWO NIGHTS OF RACING THIS WEEK
AT HAWKEYE DOWNS

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (Aug 6) - Hawkeye Downs Speedway hosts two nights of racing
this week featuring the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series on Wednesday night.
Along with the IMCA Late Models the “Dirt at the Downs” show will feature Miller
Time Modifieds, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, Barron Motor Supply IMCA
Hobby Stocks, IMCA SportMod, and Sunline Hornets.
On Friday night, August 10, it’s Van Meter Industrial Employee Appreciation
Night and the Performance Concepts Late Models and Mini-Vans will join the
Miller Time Modifieds, Budweiser Sportsmen, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars,
Sunline Hornets, and IMCA SportMods for a full night of racing.
According to the latest information from IMCA, Jeremy Grady leads the IMCA Deery
Brothers Summer Series point standings with Darrell DeFrance in second.
Boone McLaughlin, Terry Neal, and Andy Nezworski are also listed in the top
five.
In Miller Time Modifieds, Tim Plummer continues to lead the way with a three
point edge over Chad Willet. Arlo Becker sits in third with Shawn Stinger and
Joey Gase also in the top five.
Bob Ahrendsen still holds a five point margin over Kurt Bohnsack in the Barron
Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars. Randy Filling and Doug Otto are each eight
points behind, tied for third.
In Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, Tim Dains still holds an eight point
lead over Dennis Klinsky. Rodney Grother, Gary Pfantz, and Deb Mefford round
out the top five on the points chart.
Shaun Myers holds a two marker edge over teammate Brian Beaty in the Sunline
Hornets. Brad Chandler sits in third. Twenty-four different drivers have
participated in this division so far this season. Unlike the other division,
points earned go to the car in this class.The IMCA SportMods are knotted at the
top with Tony Olson and Arnie Reif each with 377 points and three victories.
Ryan Luedtke is just three points back in third.
Dave McCalla continues to lead the way in the Budweiser Sportsmen with a track
high seven trips to Coca-Cola Victory Lane this season. Andy Duggan is nine
points behind while Bob Ahrendsen, Michael Weber and Martin Ballard are also in
the top five.
Although the Performance Concepts Late Models aren’t earning points toward an
official championship this season Dudley Fleck does lead in the points and
also leads in victories with three. Ken Reiser is nine points behind Fleck.
Special admission prices apply for Wednesday night. Adults are $15, Students
(12-17) and Seniors (62+) are $10 and Children are just $1.00. Gates open at 6pm
with Racing at 7pm.
