JUNE 20th RACES CANCELLED AT HAWKEYE DOWNS CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (June 17) - Hawkeye Downs Speedway regrets to announce that the June 20th race program has been cancelled. The annual “Landstar Safety Night” was slated for the program and that will be rescheduled for a later date. Many members of the Hawkeye Downs “racing family” including drivers, race team owners, crew members, race fans and even Hawkeye Downs staff have been adversely affected by the horrific flooding in Cedar Rapids and the entire area. Recovery from the flooding is in the very early stages with many affected people not even able to gain access to assess damage to their homes and property yet. “ We want those affected to be able to focus on their families and putting their lives back together, and not worry about points or racing at this critical time,” said Roy Nowers, Hawkeye Downs General Manager. He added, “Our hearts go out to all those affected by this disaster.” Decisions concerning racing in future weeks will be made on a week by week basis. |
