USST SUPER TRUCKS SET FOR FRIDAY NIGHT VISIT

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (May 11) - After a week off due to a rainout, weekly racing returns to Hawkeye Downs Speedway this Friday night, May 15. The USST Super Trucks are the featured event this week as they join the Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, Hawkeye Downs IMCA SportMods, Sunline Hornets, and for the first time as part of the Friday night program in quite some time, Two-Man cruisers.

The USST Super Trucks Challenge Series event combines the USST Northern and Southern Series for the first time this season. Each division has run one event so far this season with Thomas Roney of Crystal Lake, IL winning a May 2 event at Dells Raceway Park (Wisconsin Dells, WI) in the Northern Division.

Brandon Lollis of Altus, OK won the first Southern Series event of the season at Altus Speedway (Altus, OK) on April 25.

In their only previous appearance at Hawkeye Downs, Roney won the Budweiser Mid-AM Sportsmen/USST Challenge race which combined the trucks with the Hawkeye Downs Sportsmen.

An excellent field of USST Super Trucks is expected Friday night as the USST Challenge Series moves on to Iowa Speedway in Newton (IA) on Saturday.

Fans of the USST Super Trucks can catch the action live on www.1600espn.com

After one week of racing, Dave Ballstaedt holds the lead in Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars while Roland Bohnsack is on top of the Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks. Nathan Chandler won the Sunline Hornets feature on May 1. The IMCA SportMods have not run a point race yet this season.

Two-Man Cruisers have run at special events in the past and as part of the Saturday Night Thunder program. The class features two “drivers” with one person steering and operating the brake while the other person operates the brakes. Typically the drivers don’t know until race time if they will run counter-closkwise or clockwise.

Grandstand Gates open at 6pm with USST Super Truck qualifying set for 6:40 and Racing starts at 7pm.

Adult Grandstand Admission is $10, Seniors/Students are $7, and Children are just $1. Pit Passes are $25.
