LANDON CASSILL COMING “HOME” TO HAWKEYE DOWNS THIS FRIDAY

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (May 27) - Cedar Rapids own Landon Cassill is coming “home”
to Hawkeye Downs Speedway this Friday night to race with the Miller Lite
Hawkeye Downs Late Models as part of the Van Meter Industrial Fast Lane
Friday. Cassill, 2008 NASCAR Rookie of the Year , will be driving the #61
Port City Race Cars Chevy Impala on Friday night.
Cassill got his start at Hawkeye Downs Speedway racing Go-Karts and later
moved to Legends, Modifieds, and Late Models.
Hawkeye Downs Speedway and Van Meter Industrial have teamed up for “Fast
Lane Friday” coming up on Friday night May 29 at Cedar Rapids’ Hawkeye Downs
Speedway. Fans can attend the races for just a $1.00 donation for flood
relief (18 years and older). Children are free but donations for everyone
attending are welcome.
Join Hawkeye Downs and Cedar Rapids’ own Van Meter industrial for a fun &
exciting night of racing while helping raise money for the local flood
relief and recovery efforts in Linn County.
100% of financial donations to the fund will support non-profit
organizations in Linn County with ongoing recovery efforts throughout the
Cedar Rapids metro area and surrounding communities. All donations will be
given to the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation Flood 2008 Fund.
Fans of all ages can also attend the Van Meter Fast Lane Friday Post-Race
Party at Tavern on the Mall at Hawkeye Downs following the races. That event
features local band “Sound as a Pound” providing entertainment. Sound as a
Pound is a five-piece band playing Rock, Funk, and Blues.
Grandstand Gates open at 6pm with Racing at 7pm.
