SIX DIVISIONS READY FOR ACTION ON POWER OF NATURE IMPLEMENT/CUB CADET NIGHT

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (June 2) - The 2009 racing season continues this Friday night at Hawkeye Downs Speedway with Power of Nature and Cub Cadet presenting action in six divisions.

Miller Lite Late Models, Budweiser Mid-Am Sportsmen, and Coors Light Modifieds will take to the Hawkeye Downs half-mile with Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, Sunline Hornets, and IMCA SportMods set to battle on the always exciting quarter-mile oval.

The Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars have the week off.

For most divisions, it’s point race number four as drivers battle in quest of the Papa Johns/I-Wireless Championship Cup.

Johnny Spaw holds a thirteen point margin over Brad Osborn and Joey Gase in Miller Lite Late Models. Thor Anderson and Justin Jennings are next in line at the top of the points chart.

The Budweiser Mid-Am Sportsmen point chase is very tight with defending champion Dave McCalla holding a one point edge over Michael Weber and just a two-point lead on Andy Duggan.

The Coors Light Modified division is led by Tim Plummer who has a one-point cushion over Larry Clausen. Each driver has one feature win so far this season. Craig Bender and Ryan Luedtke are just four points behind Plummer, tied for third.

Even though Kurt Bohnsack hasn’t won a Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Car feature yet this season, he does hold the point lead in that division. Bohnsack leads Scooter Dulin by three markers with Brian Franks riding in third. With the off-week for the division, they’ll have to wait until next week to resume their points battle.

Scott Siems finds himself atop the chart in Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, just one point ahead of Roland Bohnsack. Each driver has one feature win. Nathan Ballard is third, just two points behind the leader.

While Sunline Hornets points are not regularly published, fans can be sure that some great battles are shaping up as the 2009 season gets into full swing.
In IMCA SportMods, Scott Kositzky holds the current lead but he has plenty of competition as Ken Kositzky, Tim Dains, and Creston Williams are tied for second, just three points behind the leader.

The action kicks off at 7pm Friday night with pre-race ceremonies, including the introduction of the 1600ESPN/KGYM Driver of the Week. Grandstand Gates open at 6pm.

Adult Grandstand Admission is $10, Seniors/Students are $7, and Children are just $1. Pit Passes are $25 for regular events.
