CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (July 7) - "NAPA Night Featuring the Dr. Danger Car Jump and Explosion Show” is this Friday night, 10 with seven divisions scheduled for action at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. Most divisions were off for the 37th Annual Miller 100 last week and the drivers are ready to resume racing.
Along with racing, daredevil “Dr. Danger” will be on hand to entertain fans with his always unique car jump and stunt explosion show.
Miller Lite Late Models, Budweiser Mid-Am Sportsmen, Coors Light Modifieds, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks and Sunline Hornets will compete Papa Johns/I Wireless Championship Cup points chase with the Two-Man Cruisers also in action Friday night.
In Miller Lite Late Models, Joey Gase is leading the way at the top of the point chart, following closely by Brad Osborn, just two points behind. Thor Anderson currently sits in third.
Dave McCalla has a one point edge over Andy Duggan in the Budweiser Mid-Am Sportsmen point battle. McCalla and Duggan have each tasted victory twice this season while Michael Weber, who sits third on the point chart, has visited Coca-Cola Victory Lane once.
Larry Clausen and defending champion Tim Plummer are dead even at the top of the Coors Light Modified standings with two victories each. Veteran Arlo Becker is just six points behind the co-leaders in third.
Moving to the quarter-mile, Kurt Bohnsack has the point lead in Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars with one win to his credit. Bob Ahrendsen has the second position with Cory Houdek and Scooter Dulin tied for third.
In Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, Scott Siems continues to lead the way with a four point cushion over Nathan Ballard in the points’ race. Roland Bohnsack currently holds down the third slot.
The Sunline Hornets point battle continues to be a wide-open race with Jim Hanson, Derek Parrott, Brad Chandler, Brogan Fiala, Jason Freeman, and Nathan Chandler all posting wins so far this season.
Dr. Danger, who’d real name is Gary Carpenter, has been performing live daredevil stunts for nearly 20 years at race tracks, speedways and monster truck shows across the country. The action kicks off at 7pm Friday night with pre-race ceremonies, including the introduction of the 1600ESPN/KGYM Driver of the Week. Grandstand Gates open at 6pm.

for regular events.
