CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (July 22) — Hochstetler Towing, the “Official Towing
Service Provider” of Hawkeye Downs Speedway, presents racing in seven
divisions Friday night, July 22.
Hochstetler Towing also continues their annual tradition of giving away
several bicycles to lucky kids’ ticketholders.
Miller Lite Late Models, Budweiser Mid-Am Sportsmen and Coors Light
Modifieds will battle for Papa Johns/I-Wireless Championship Cup points on
the half-mile while Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, Barron Motor Supply
IMCA Hobby Stocks, Sunline Hornets, and IMCA Northern SportMods will take to
the quarter-mile.
Joey Gase continues to lead the Miller Lite Late Models with an eight-point
cushion over Brad Osborn. Thor Anderson currently rides in third. Gase is
one of six different feature winners in the division so far this season.
Dave McCalla has just a one-point lead over Andy Duggan in Budweiser Mid-Am
Sportsmen. Travis Thompson is in third. McCalla has earned three trips to
Coca-Cola Victory Lane while Duggan has collected two feature wins.
Larry Clausen and defending champion Tim Plummer are knotted at the top of
the Coors Light Modified chart, each with 292 points. Arlo Becker sits just
six points behind the co-leaders. Clausen has three wins with Plummer and
Becker each earning two.
Kurt Bohnsack holds a ten-point margin over Cory Houdek in Barron Motor
Supply IMCA Stock Cars. Bob Ahrendsen has the third slot on the chart. Five
different drivers have earned winners’ hardware this season.
Nathan Ballard has a narrow two-point lead over Scott Siems in Barron Motor
Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks. Roland Bohnsack currently is in third. The point
leader has one win this season while Siems has two and Bohnsack has one.
The IMCA SportMods have been off for a couple weeks but resume action this
week with Scott Kositzky just two-points in front of Tim Dains. Creston
Williams is also in the hunt just seven markers behind the leader. Kositzky
leads in the win column visiting victory lane three times.
Shane Hanson sits atop the ever-growing Sunline Hornets division with Jim
Hanson and Brad Chandler next in line. Exact point totals are not published
for this division in the interest of maintaining fair and spirited
competition.
The action kicks off at 7pm Friday night with pre-race ceremonies, including
the introduction of the 1600ESPN/KGYM Driver of the Week. Grandstand Gates
open at 6pm.
Adult Grandstand Admission is $10, Seniors/Students are $7, and Children are
just $1. Pit Passes are $25 for regular events.
