Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids, Iowa announces the hire of Mike Becker as the Race Promoter

CEDAR RAPIDS , IA (December 18, 2009) Mr. Roy Nowers, Executive Director of Hawkeye Downs is please to announce the hiring of Mr. Mike Becker as the Race Promoter, “Mr. Becker brings nearly 35 years of involvement in racing, most recently as the Public Relations/General Manager with Simmons Promotions, Inc. located in Farley Iowa.” “The knowledge of racing that Mr. Becker has obtained will insure Hawkeye Downs advances its position as Eastern Iowa’s premier auto racing facility.” “I am excited and confident that with Mike’s leadership and abilities Hawkeye Downs will continue to see increased car counts, increased attendance and better racing action.” During his tenure with Simmons Promotions Inc., Mr. Becker has been associated with Dubuque Speedway, Farley Speedway and the West Liberty Raceway. Mr. Becker will begin in the first week of January 2010.

Hawkeye Downs is Iowa’s only paved racetrack offering a weekly racing series comprised of ½ mile and ¼ mile racing. Hawkeye Downs regularly attracts racers and fans from across Iowa and throughout the Midwest to participative in racing activities.
