I-35 Speedway hosts Memorial Day Weekend specials
MASON CITY, Iowa (May 1) A pair of special events are on tap over the Memorial Day Weekend at I-35 Speed-way in Mason City.
IMCA sanctioned Modifieds and Stock Cars headline Minneapolis Auto Auction specials Sunday and Monday, May 28 and 29. IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win both days while top prize in both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car features is $500.
There is no entry fee and pit passes are $25. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. both
days, with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing to follow.
National, regional, state and local track points will be awarded for each show.
Winners of the Modified features will be added to the ballot for the 2007
All-Star Invitational during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.
"It's important for Modified drivers to note that these races will be among the first opportunities they have to qualify for next yearıs All-Star Invitational," IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root said. "There are many successful drivers in the two divisions in the Northern Iowa and Southern Minnesota areas and the specials at I-35 will give them the opportunity to race for an excellent purse, with a reasonable pit pass and no entry fee."
