First deadline for required IMCA Hoosier tire use comes up in
June
VINTON, Iowa (May 3) The first of two dates for required Hoosier G60-15 tire
use comes up next month for drivers in the IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car
and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod divisions.
Cars in all three classes must have Hoosiers on the rear by June 1 for
competition at weekly sanctioned events. Hoosiers must be on all four locations
beginning July 1.
The same deadlines apply for Late Model drivers to run IMCA stamped Hoosiers.
Competitors in the Deery Brothers Summer Series are already on the new tire
exclusively.
Original dates for the transition from the former IMCA spec tire, as published
in the 2006 rule book, were May 15 and June 15. IMCA announced the later
deadlines, which should allow more drivers to use up tires they already had on
hand, in December.
"We've heard a lot of positive comments about the new Hoosier tires since the
season began, especially in the last week or so as more tracks in the SuperFlow
North Central and Eastern regions opened," IMCA Vice President of Operations
Brett Root said. "A good number of our members have already made the switch and
are happy with the Hoosier tires."
