3,100-plus ballots already cast to determine starting field
for IMCA All-Star Modified Invitational at Super Nationals

VINTON, Iowa (May 18, 2006) Any doubts about converting to electronic only voting for the IMCA All-Star Modified Invitational field have been forgotten as the number of ballots cast through the IMCA website topped 3,100 in just two and a half weeks.

Drivers from six states Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nebraska, Kansas and Iowa comprise the current top 10 vote recipients.

Voting through the www.imca.com website began May 1 and will continue through July, with the starting field of 10 to be announced in early August for the Friday, Sept. 8 race during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals at Boone Speedway.

The total number of ballots cast for the inaugural invitational in 2004 was 2,541. More than 5,800 ballots were counted for last yearıs race.

"From day one with this event, while we wanted fans to vote for the drivers they consider the best of the best, we had to be concerned with the possibility of ballot stuffing," IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root said. "The electronic system is the easiest way for us to ensure that doesn't happen. It's convenient for the fans, it's convenient for us and it's the system that's least open to ballot stuffing".

"Last year's event was an awesome show," he added, "and I'm sure this year's will be, too.

All 55 drivers on the ballot have received at least 301 votes as of noon Wednesday, May 17. Ballots can only be submitted once a day from an individual email address. Ballots that do not designate votes for 10 different drivers are not counted.
Ballot drivers include the winners of sanctioned specials held since May of 2005 that paid $1,000 or more, 2005 state and regional champions, and drivers winning three track championships last season.

The 10 lap All-Star Invitational pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start.
