IMCA Modifieds, Northern SportMods on ticket for July 20
Harris Clash at Knoxville
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 11) – IMCA Modifieds will be joined by Karl Chevrolet
Northern SportMods for the 15th annual Harris Clash, set for Thursday, July 20
at Knoxville Raceway.
Top prize in the Modified main is $2,000, while first place in the first ever
race for the sanctioned SportMods at Knoxville is $500.
“The caliber of competition year in and year out has made the Harris Clash one
of our premier Modified events and the addition of the Northern SportMods will
make this an even bigger and better show,” IMCA Vice President of Operations
Brett Root said. “The number of calls we’ve already gotten from drivers in the
two divisions is a pretty good indication that we’re going to have excellent
counts in both classes.”
Gates open at 3:30 p.m. on race day and the draw closes at 6:05 p.m. Hot laps
are at 6:30 p.m. with the first heat race at 7:15 p.m.
Admission is $10 for adults and $3 for children. Pit passes are $20. Co title
sponsors of the event are Cookie’s Barbecue Sauce and Speed’s Golf Carts, both
of Wall Lake.
Total purse for the 28 car Modified feature is $17,000. Modified drivers are
guaranteed two chances to qualify for their main event while car count will
determine qualifying for the SportMod feature.
IMCA Modified special events contingencies will be awarded, as will national and
Smiley’s Racing Products state points for the SportMods.
The Clash is also a qualifying event for the 2007 All-Star Modified
Invitational, to be held at Boone Speedway during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super
Nationals.
Defending race winner is Greg Metz of Washington, Kan., who also topped the 2003
event.
