Late Model champions, top rookies chase Brodix awards
MENA, Ark. (Feb. 4, 2007) – IMCA Sunoco Late Model drivers vying for
national and special series honors this season will be in the running
again for contingency awards from Brodix.
The Mena, Ark., manufacturer will award cylinder head sets to
national and Deery Brothers Summer Series champions, and to rookies
of the year in both the national and series points races.
“The development of the spec engine program for IMCA Late Models
begins and ends with Brodix,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder
said. “Their dedication to IMCA has made weekly Late Model racing
possible and we remain at the forefront thanks to Brodix,”
The Late Model point season runs from Friday, April 27 through
Sunday, Aug. 26.
Eligibility for rookie status remains unchanged from previous seasons
as drivers cannot have competed in more than four sanctioned events
to be considered rookies on either a national or Deery Series basis.
Rookie award contenders also have an Aug. 1 deadline to return a registration form, published in the points section of the IMCA
newsletter and posted on the IMCA website, and must display two
Brodix decals on their race cars.
Darrel DeFrance is the defending national Late Model king and Jeff
Aikey won the Deery Brothers Summer Series crown for the fifth time
in 2006. Robert See raced to national rookie honors and Mike Murphy
Jr. topped a big field of freshman drivers to score the Deery ROY prize.
Information about Brodix-made cylinder heads is available by calling
