IMCA Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods headed to
Knoxville for July 19 Harris Clash special
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 12) – IMCA Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods
head to Knoxville Raceway next Thursday, July 19, for the 16th annual Harris
Clash special.
The Modified winner earns a $2,000 share of the $17,000 feature purse, along
with a spot on the ballot for the 2008 Fast Shafts All- Star Invitational.
Northern SportMods run for $500 to win in their second appearance at the
historic half-mile oval.
IMCA national, home region and Smiley’s Racing Products state points will be
awarded. The Harris Clash has been designated as a 51st “bonus” event drivers in
both classes can use in determining national and regional standings.
“We had made a similar announcement regarding the American Stock Car Shoot-Out.
In the case of the Harris Clash, Modified and Northern SportMod drivers can earn
points from a 51st start,” IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root
explained. “Because of both the quality of competition and the number of
entries, we didn’t want to discourage drivers from racing at Knoxville because
it could jeopardize where they finished nationally or in their region.”
Gates open at 3:30 p.m. on race day. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. with the first
heat race at 7:15 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $3 for kids. Pit passes
are $25.
Rain date is Tuesday, July 24.
More information is available at the
www.harrisclash.com website or by calling event promoter Bob Harris at
515 231-1748.
Winners of 2006 Harris Clash features were Jeremie Hedrick of Clintonville,
Wis., in the Modifieds and Jacob Murray of Hartford in the Northern SportMods.
