Dakota Classic dates announced for IMCA Modified, Stock Car tours

MANDAN, N.D. (Jan. 22) – Six July dates are scheduled for the 20th annual Big Dog Chas sis Dakota Classic Tour for IMCA Modifieds, while IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers following the Dakota Track Side Classic Series will see action on five nights.

Each Modified main event pays $1,200 to win and a minimum of $250 to start, with a $2,000 point fund established for the top 10 drivers in final point standings. Feature winners and the overall series champion will become candidates for the 2010 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.

Opening night is Sunday, July 12 at Nodak Speedway in Minot. The tour travels to Estevan, Sask., Motor Speedway for Monday and Tuesday, July 13-14 races and then to Williston Basin Speedway on Wednesday, July 15.

Southwest Speedway at Dickinson hosts the Thursday, July 16 show before the tour wraps up with Championship Night on Friday, July 17 at Dacotah Speedway in Mandan.

The Stock Car tour starts at Geographical Center Speedway in Rugby on Saturday, July 11 and joins the Modified programs at Nodak, Estevan and Williston. First place in each event is worth $500, with a minimum of $100 to start at each stop.

A point fund of $1,000 will be paid out to the top 10 in tour points.

The same rules, procedures and payouts will be used throughout the respective tours. National, regional and Smiley’s Racing Products State, as well as special series points, will be awarded at all events.

Contingency awards given by IMCA and special series sponsors will be announced, as will information drivers and crew members may need in crossing the Canadian border.

“We want to make it as easy as possible for drivers to and crew to get to and from Estevan for the two races there,” IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root said. “That information will be published in the IMCA newsletter and posted on our website as soon as possible.”
