IMCA Sport Compacts race Sundays at Stuart
STUART, Iowa (Jan. 29) – A fifth IMCA division joins weekly programs this
season at Stuart Speedway, with the addition of Sport Compacts to Sunday
shows.
“We wanted a class that could bring new folks into racing at a lower cost,”
promoter Bill Davis Jr. explained. “Another plus is that drivers already in
a Sport Compact can come here to race for points.”
Introduced by IMCA in 2006, the Sport Compact division was featured at a
dozen tracks in three states last season.
Opening night at Stuart is scheduled for May 3 with season championship
night set Sept. 20 for the Modifieds, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks, Karl
Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Sport Compacts.
The season ends with the inaugural Fever Heat Classic for Hobby Stocks and
SportMods on Sept. 27.
The event is named for the movie ‘Fever Heat’ filmed at Stuart in 1967.
