Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, Sport Compacts added to
regular programs at Rolling Plains, WaKeeney Speedway
HAYS, Kan. (Feb. 25, 2009) – Two more IMCA divisions join regular race
programs at a pair of Kansas tracks this season.
Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and the Sport Compacts will run at Rolling
Plains Motor Speedway in Hays and at WaKeeney Speedway.
Both tracks already sanction their Modified, Stock Car and Hobby Stock
classes with IMCA and will be promoted by Rod Bencken.
“I’ve had a lot of people call to tell me they were interested in running
one of these economical classes,” Bencken said. “They are two excellent
entry level classes and hopefully they can help us get more younger people
in the sport.”
Northern SportMods and Sport Compacts run partial schedules at both
facilities and a joint champion will be crowned for the two tracks in 2009.
Opening night at Rolling Plains is scheduled for April 17, with most points
races on Friday nights through Sept. 18. The Fall Nationals special will be
Oct. 16-17.
WaKeeney opens on April 26 and runs primarily on Sundays to Aug. 30.
Both tracks are in IMCA’s ButlerBuilt Central Region for Modifieds and Jet
Racing Northern Regions for Stocks and Hobbies.
