KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 4) – Three IMCA divisions converge at Knoxville Raceway next Tuesday and Wednesday, July 7-8 for the expanded Harris Clash special. IMCA Modifieds comprise the entire opening night card, which features a $2,000 to win, minimum $200 to start main event. Another $2,000 check goes to the winner of the second night’s Deery Brothers Summer Series event for IMCA Late Models. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods square off in a $500 to win race. Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. both days. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7:15 p.m. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults and $3 for kids. Pit passes are $25 and no one under the age of 16 will be allowed in the pit area. Entry lists are already full for both programs: 120 Modifieds take to the track on Tuesday, while Wednesday sees 60 Late Models and 60 Northern SportMods in action. The top four finishers from each of six 20-car qualifying races advance to the Modified main event. Winners from each of six last- chance races will complete the starting lineup. The Late Model feature will be 35 laps. Modifieds will go 25 circuits and Northern SportMods 15 laps. IMCA national and Smiley’s Racing Products state points will be awarded to Modifieds and Northern SportMods. Home region points will also be given for the Modifieds. Special series points only will be given to Deery drivers. The IMCA Late Model series last appeared at Knoxville in 1997, when Gary Webb of Blue Grass was the feature winner. Steve Kosiski of Omaha, Neb., topped the 1994 tour event there. Current point leader and five-time series champion Jeff Aikey of Waterloo won at Knoxville in 1995 and again in 1996.
