BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 5) – Jay Noteboom will get the opportunity to race for a third Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational title. The Hinton, Iowa, hotshoe was added to the field yesterday for the 10- car, $1,000 to win Modified race next Friday, Sept. 11 during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals at Boone Speedway. Rich Lewerke of Garner, Iowa, had been elected to fill one of two starting spots allotted to ButlerBuilt North Central Region drivers, but will not be able to compete at Super Nationals. The driver with the next highest vote total, Nate Caruth of Ames, Iowa, will be playing in a high school football game that evening and had to pass on filling Lewerke’s spot. Noteboom, the 2005 and defending race winner, had the next highest vote total in the region. The All-Star start will be his career fifth. Also set to take the green flag in the 10-lap
contest are David Murray Jr. of Oberlin, Kan., winner of the 2004 and 2007
All-Star races, Ricky Alvarado of Delta, Colo, Chris Bragg of Springtown,
Texas, Dale Caswell of Central Square, N.Y., Brian Mullen of Seymour, Wis.,
Kevin Stoa of Salisbury, N.C., Jeff Taylor of Cave City, Ark., Gabe Tucker
of Carbon, Texas, and Tim Ward of Mesa, Ariz.
