Heinz scores last chance honors for Super Nationals Stock
Cars
BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 9) – John Heinz was first across the finish line on the
final night of Stock Car qualifying at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super
Nationals.
Heinz beat Keith Knop and Jeffrey Larson to the checkers in Wednesday’s
last-chance feature at Boone Speedway.
That trio pulled away from the rest of the 24-car field in securing starting
spots in the main event.
Also advancing are Josh Hohensee, Robert Stofer, Brian Irvine, Jesse
Colwell, Jay Schmidt, Mike Jergens and Nathan Burke.
Irvine, the two-time and defending Super Nationals champion, moved up seven
positions to qualify. Jergens started 20th and advanced 11 spots.
The 25-lapper came to a halt when Sean Johnson rolled on the front stretch
on the fourth circuit.
The top 10 square off in a pole dash during the Thursday show to determine
how they’ll line up on the outside row come Saturday.
Schmidt will start his career ninth Super Nationals Stock Car main event.
Stofer is in for the seventh time, Burke for the sixth, Irvine and Knop both
for the fifth, Heinz for the third, and Larson, Hohensee, Colwell and
Jergens each for the first.
