Sather, Pruitt top qualifying features for Northern SportMods
at Super Nationals
BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 10) – Kevin Sather and Mike Pruitt both impressed in
winning their respective Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod features Thursday
night during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.
Slowed only by a couple early cautions and another yellow after midway,
Sather ran away with the checkers in the first 20-lapper at Boone Speedway.
Pruitt led the distance in the second event, chased most of the way by
Jeremy Embrey.
A record 163 cars were entered in the class, 24 more than the previous mark
set last year.
The top nine finishers in each race advance to the starting grid for
Saturday’s main event. Sather will be on the pole, in front of Brett Meyer,
Jared Timmerman, Geoff Olson, Adam Ackerman, Scott Davis, Brian Miller, 2007
champion Tracy Wassenberg and Nathan Chodur.
Lining up behind Pruitt and Embrey in the inside row will be Austin Lucas,
Brett Moffitt, Kurt Hogan, Benji Legg, Mark Rose, Steve Stewart and Rick
Kretschmann.
The final nine on the outside row will be determined during Friday’s show.
The second feature was stopped on the fourth circuit, when Austin Kaplan
rolled in front of the grandstand.
