Smith tops last chance race for SportMods
BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 11) – Another member of Lake City’s foremost racing
family will start on the front row of a feature event at the IMCA Speedway
Motors Super Nationals.
Doug Smith won Friday’s last-chance feature for Karl Chevrolet Northern
SportMods at Boone Speedway, keeping Austin Kaplan at bay and earning the
outside row one position in the main event on Saturday evening.
The top nine finishers advance. Smith and Kaplan were followed to the finish
by Troy Jerovetz, Kyle Brown, Cody Warrick, Josh Long, Chad Ten Naple, Shay
Woods and Clinton Luellen.
Smith’s brothers Devin and David will start on the front of the middle row
in the Hobby and Stock features, respectively. Brothers Donavon and Dustin
start second and third on the inside row of the Stock Car main.
