Arnold Motor Supply becomes title sponsor for IMCA Hobby Stock, SportMod races of champions

SPENCER, Iowa (Feb. 19) – A company familiar to auto parts and accessories customers across the Midwest has signed on as title sponsor of two special races during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.

Arnold Motor Supply will provide a portion of the purses paid in both the Hobby Stock Race of Champions and the Northern SportMod Race of Champions each of the next two years.

Both events were added to the Saturday program at Boone Speedway last September.

“We’re glad to be part of these races. Both classes have great fan followings,” said Dave Kimbell, director of marketing for the Spencer based company. “We cut our teeth  on this business and that’s why we’re involved in racing. That’s where a lot of our customers are and what a lot of them do for entertainment.”

A division of the Arnold Group of Companies, Arnold Motor Supply has 48 full line parts stores, 21 of them equipped with complete machine shops, in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska.

“We have been involved in racing since the company started. Many of our customers race and there’s a friendly competition between our machinists as to who builds the best race engines,” Kimbell said. “There’s a lot of synergy between the automotive field and racing, and that’s the way it should be.”

Information about product availability and dealer location is posted on the www.arnoldmotorsupply.com website.

Both 10 car, 10 lap events will pay $300 to win, $200 for second and $100 to start. All drivers in the starting fields must display two Arnold Motor Supply decals on their race car to receive any share of the purse.

Track champions or the current point leader as of Sept. 3, former national champions, former Super National champions and 2009 race winners in both divisions are eligible to qualify, as are former Hobby Stock regional champions.

"Through the course of putting this program together we have come to know the people at Arnold Motor Supply and they are great to work with,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “Nine of the 20 drivers who qualified for these two races last year have an Arnold Motor Supply store in their hometown, and we hope to either build or strengthen those local relationships through Arnold's partnership with these events at Super Nationals."
