Speedway Speedway Begins 2010 Season in April
McCOOK, NE (February 23) - McCook Speedway will be back in action for the
2010 season, under the watchful eyes of Dennis McFarland. Dennis promoted
the track from 2003-2005, and is back at the helm at the action-sized 3/8
mile dirt track. McCook Speedway will kick off the racing season on Friday,
April 2. All classes this year will be sanctioned by the International Motor
Contest Association (IMCA). The Modified, Stock Car, and Hobby Stock will
be joined by the Northern SportMod classes as IMCA-sanctioned classes. The
specs for these classes may be viewed at
www.imca.com.
The gates will open each racing Friday night at 6 PM Central Time, with the
races starting at 8 PM Central Time. The Red Willow County Fair race on
Thursday, July 29 will start at 7 PM Central Time, with the gates opening at
5 PM. With the possible exceptions of the fair race (which will be
determined at a later date by the Red Willow County Fairboard), admission
will be $8.00 for adults 19 and older, $6.00 for students aged 13-18, $3.00
for children 6-12, and free for children 5 and under. Pit passes are
$20.00. For insurance purposes, pets will not be allowed in the grandstand
area or the pits. Driver registrations are $65.00, but if completed before
March 30, is only $40.00. Drivers may also reserve a pit stall for the 2010
season by contacting McFarland.
McCook Speedway is on the
Red Willow County Fairgrounds in the northwestern region of McCook, on the
corner of 5th Street West and “Q” Street. For more information, contact
