UNDERWOOD, N.D. (February
26) – The green flag will fly on Sundays this season at McLean County
Speedway, where IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars return to weekly race programs after
a three-year absence. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks
are also on five point night cards, with opening night scheduled for May 16.
Other dates on the schedule at Underwood’s ¼-mile oval are May 23, June 6,
June 13 and June 27. The county fair show is
June 13. Rain date for any regular event lost to inclement weather is July
18. “With Nodak (Speedway)
closed because of grandstand construction at the state fairgrounds, we
decided to move our race night from Saturday to Sunday,” explained promoter
Robert Rosselli. “That should really help our Stock Car numbers.” “Most of those cars will
come from Bismarck or Minot. We’re smack dab in the middle, 60 miles either
way,” he added. “We’ll start racing at 5 p.m. so everybody can get home at a
decent time Sunday night.” Points
earned at McLean County also count toward Probe Industries Northern Region
and Allstar Performance State standings
for the respective divisions. Sanctioned Stock Cars ran
at Underwood from 2000-2004 and again from 2006-2007. IMCA Hobbies have been
part of regular programs since 2006. McLean County also hosts
the second installment of the Dakota Track Side Classic Series for Stock
Cars on Saturday, July 10. National, regional, state and special series
points will be awarded for that event.
