STUART, Iowa (March 15) –
Chuck Vanderheiden has done just about every job at the track during the 15
years he’s worked at Stuart Speedway. When the season starts on
April 25, he’ll have a new job: Promoting the ¼-mile dirt venue. “Stuart is my hometown and
I started coming to races here when I was a kid. The first promoter I worked
for was Kenny Davidson,” Vanderheiden said. “Stuart has always had a lot of
good, close racing and we’ll do everything we can to give our drivers the
best possible track week in and week out.” Five sanctioned divisions
return to Sunday night programs at Stuart, the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco
Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and
Mach-1 Sport Compacts. “Three of the champions at
the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals last year also raced with us on a
weekly basis in 2009,” said Vanderheiden, citing Randy Havlik, Shannon
Anderson and Mike Pruitt. “So we’ve got our share of the big dogs here.” Two specials on the
upcoming schedule are the Ron Little Memorial on May 30 and the Fever Heat
event on Sept. 19. The final night for track
points at Stuart is Sept. 5. Most of a veteran crew,
including Vanderheiden’s wife Anne, returns to the speedway staff in 2010. Stuart is part of IMCA’s
ButlerBuilt North Central Region for the Modifieds and Probe Industries
Northern Regions for both Stocks and Hobbies.
