MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (March 30) – An early April tripleheader of Frostbuster specials will start the new season at three Iowa race tracks. IMCA Modified features on Friday, April 2 at Marshalltown Speedway, Saturday, April 3 at Boone Speedway and Sunday, April 4 at Benton County Speedway in Vinton each pay $1,000 to win and are qualifying events for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $500 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks chase $250 in first place money each night, while Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods vie for $300 top checks at Boone and Vinton. Tri-County Heating of New Franken, Wis., added $200 to the winner’s share of the SportMod feature at Marshalltown, making that a $500 to win event. The winner of Sunday’s Mach-1 Sport Compact feature at Vinton earns $125. National, regional and Allstar Performance state points will be given at all three Frostbusters. Gates at Marshalltown open at 4 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Boone opens the gates at 2 p.m. and the grandstand at 3 p.m. Hot laps are at 4 p.m., with racing at 5 p.m. Both the gates and the grandstand at Vinton open at 3 p.m. Hot laps are at 3:30 p.m. and racing begins at 4 p.m. More information is available from Marshalltown promoter Toby Kruse at 515 432-4703, Boone promoter Robert Lawton at 515 987-1220, or Benton County promoter Mick Trier at 515 201-5526.
