Next Deery Series date May 18 at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 11) – The sixth stop of the season takes the Deery Brothers Summer Series to Marshalltown Speedway and the Miller Lite 50 show next Tuesday, May 18.

The IMCA Late Model tour event pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $250 to start. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will vie for $400 to win along with national and Allstar Performance state points. Karl Chevrolet dirt trucks and mod-lites complete the race program.

No entry fee will be charged to SportMod, dirt truck or mod-lite drivers.

Pit gates at Marshalltown open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $12 for adults and $2 for kids 11 and under. Pit passes are $25.

Three-time series king Mark Burgtorf has won three of the first five tour events this spring, but trails Ray Guss Jr. by four points heading to Marshalltown. Hometown hero Darrel DeFrance, Tom Goble and six-time and defending series champion Jeff Aikey round out the top five in the standings.

Both Guss and Aikey own a pair of trophies from tour events at Marshalltown. Curt Martin has had the most success there, however, with five career checkers to his credit.

Next up on the Deery schedule following the Marshalltown show will be the traditional Memorial Day event at Boone Speedway.

Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, plus the local dwarf car class, complete the Monday, May 31 program. All applicable IMCA points will be given in the SportMod, Stock and Hobby divisions.
