INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (May 11) – The JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour race for IMCA Modifieds slated for tonight (Tuesday) at Independence Motor Speedway has been postponed. The Modified Mayham special, presented by the Edgewood Locker, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 19. The feature pays $1,000 to win and is a qualifying event for the 2010 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. "A lot of rain fell last night," HDT Director Bucky Doren said of the Monday storm that rolled across Eastern Iowa. "Even if we could get the track rolled into shape, both (Independence promoter) Cam Granger and I thought we'd have a rough track, too rough to race on. The fans would have been miserable in the stands with temps that will be in the 40's." All previously advertised times will remain the same for the rescheduled date. Pit gates will open at 4 p.m. and the grandstands will open at 5 p.m. The drivers’ meeting is at 6:30 p.m. and hot laps start at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks are also part of the racing lineup on May 19. More information is available at the www.dirttour.com website.
