Stannard named to new IMCA track relations position
VINTON, Iowa (March 4, 2011) - Jim Stannard has returned to the IMCA staff
as director of track relations.
His duties in the newly created post will include visiting IMCA tracks
across the country, working with promoters in strengthening currently
sanctioned classes and adding new sanctions.
"Jim's primary focus is going to be communicating with promoters and other
track officials. He brings a perspective to this job that a lot of promoters
and drivers will appreciate," said IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett
Root. "He knows and understands IMCA, believes in our philosophy
whole-heartedly and will continue to help us grow as an organization."
First hired as director of IMCA's Sprint Car division and then as director
for the Mountain Region, the New York state native and Nebraska transplant
was named director of marketing for the sanctioning body in July of 1994.
He was vice president of marketing and corporate communications when he left
IMCA in August of 1999, citing obligations to his family in Omaha.
Stannard remained in the motorsports industry, working for Speedway Motors
and then JR Motorsports, before accepting the new post with IMCA.
He'll attend the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals, among other special
events during the point season. Stannard's off-season travels will include
the national awards banquet and numerous promoter workshops, trade shows and
auctions.
"The off-season is becoming as busy for us as the race season," Root said.
"Whenever we can add a person of Jim's professional caliber, we become a
better organization."
