Vermilion County Speedway welcomes a new announcer
by: Tara Duncan
DANVILLE, Il. (April 27, 2006) - Vermilion County Speedway would like to welcome Chris Nunn as the new announcer for the 2006 racing season. Chris is twenty four years old and hails from Bloomington, Indiana and absolutely loves racing. Chris watched his Uncle race but didn’t have an interest in getting behind the wheel, “I was able to see what the drivers had to go through, and I don’t think it’s for me”, Chris said.
His announcing career started in the middle of the season at Paragon Speedway in Indiana when the regular announcer didn’t show up for the race, so Chris stepped up and has been behind the microphone for races ever since 2001. Chris then went on to announce in 2002 at the Brownstown Speedway in Indiana which is a historic dirt track. He’s excited to come to Danville and see the changes at the Vermilion County Speedway, “I used to come to Danville on Sunday nights to the Speedway just to watch, the more racing the better.” Chris will make his announcing debut at the Vermilion County Speedway this Friday and will continue to announce at the Brownstown Speedway on Saturday nights.
Chris will be a welcome member to the staff at the Vermilion County Speedway because he loves racing, coming to Danville, and has a need for speed which he will get at the Speedway. Come out this Friday to hear Chris make his debut and enjoy some great racing, it’s also media night and you can meet local television, radio and newspaper personalities. The gates open at 5:00 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. it’s sure to be an action packed night with Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, Mini Sprints and Hornets racing.
