Four Drivers Repeat at Quad City Speedway

EAST MOLINE, IL (July 2, 2006) - Sunday at Quad City Speedway the racing action
matched the temperature--HOT. After some great heat races and a nickel toss for
the youngsters the features hit the track with some real exciting racing action.
The first feature to hit the track was the J & J Camper Street Stock feature.
Jim Hickenbottom led the first lap with Korey Peterson taking over on lap two.
Lap nine had Buck Harmening go to the front and the boys played pretty nice
together until lap twelve of thes fifteen lapper. At lap twelve the caution
started flying, and flew flew five times before lap fourteen got scored. During
that time five cars were retired to the pit area. Harmening led the rest of the
way holding off the challenges of Rob Henrey the last four laps to take his
second win of the year. Henry was second with Dave Wadsager coming from
eighteenth to take third. Bruce Fosdyck was fourth with Randy Exline fifth.
Heat races appeared to go to Chris Hambright, Andrew Burk and Gerald Ward, but
Burk was disqualified for not going to post race tech turning the win over to
Chuck Fox.
After a caution flew trying to get the first lap of the IMCA Feature in things
settled down with only two more carutions in the entire twenty-five laps with
Mike Murphy Jr coming from his fifth place starting spot to lead flag to flag
for his second win of the season. Fred Remley moved into second from his sixth
place starting spot on lap ten and held on to finish in that spot. Coming from
tenth starting spot Kevin Blum was third with Mike Cothron and Jim Sandusky
rounding out the top five. Leroy Brenner and Blum won the heat races.
Richie Smith charged from his fourth place starting spot to take the early lead
of the IITI-Reynold's Ford Open Wheel Modified feature, with Milo Veloz Jr
taking over in this caution free race on lap six. By lap eight tenth place
starter and second heat winner, Jeff Morris had moved into second and was soon
trying Veloz on both the bottom and the top side. At the mid-race point Morris
finally moved aut front by himself and stayed there to take his fourth Quad City
Speedway win of the season to match his son's record at the track. Ray Cox Jr
moved in to take second with Veloz holding on for third. Doug Crampton took
fourth with Smith holding on for fifth. Jim Willert won the other heat.
Outside front row started, Nathan Hall grabbed the early lead of the Best
Choice-Racer's Edge B Modified feature when the caution flew four times between
lap two and lap three. Hall held on to the lead until the races only other
caution at lap nine. On the restart Jake Waterman got by to take the lead with a
real battle going on behind him for second between Hall and second heat winner,
Mitch Morris. Waterman went on for his third Quad City Speedway win of the year,
with Hall hanging on for second and Morris third. Kenny Ethridge was fourth with
Craig Crawford fifth.
