MACON SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES WEEKLY C.A.R.S. CRATE LATE MODEL DIVISION

MACON, IL (January 22, 2007) - Innovation will be prominent when Macon Speedway re-opens under new ownership on March 31. New to Macon Speedway in 2007 will be the introduction of C.A.R.S Crate Late Models to the weekly racing program.

Participants will be eligible to participate in up to three point funds. In addition to the local track point fund, Crate Late Model teams will also be eligible for point funds offered nationally by UMP and the Crate American Racing Series (C.A.R.S.). UMP is a national sanctioning body supporting weekly racing in many divisions including Late Models. C.A.R.S. is a newly formed Dirt Late Model Weekly Racing Series designed to help bring more racers and fans to the track.

Many track operators and officials at both UMP and C.A.R.S realize a need for an economical solution to today’s rising cost of racing. Macon Speedway is pleased to offer a new division that has so much support. It is anticipated that Crate Late Models will be an affordable solution for those who want to enter Late Model racing and in some cases, will be a stepping-stone to Super Late Models.

For the convenience of weekly racers, Macon Speedway will utilize current car and body rules for the Crate Late Models. Crate Late Models at Macon Speedway can choose either of the GM Performance Parts 602 and 604 Circle Track Racing Engines. Macon Speedway is hosting a meeting for racers on Sunday, January 28 to discuss rules and answer questions.
