Macomb Raceway Opens Saturday
Car Show at Farm King 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. before races
MACOMB, Ill. (May 4) – The 2007 racing season kicks off Saturday at Macomb
Raceway, as the track begins operation under the new ownership of Robert and
Debra Giles and events will be promoted by Dewain Hulett.
With the many upgrades to the track nearly complete, racing is ready to begin
this weekend, after last weekend’s practice was washed out after heavy rain left
water running across the track until Sunday.
Because last week’s practice was cancelled all cars Saturday will be allowed two
sets of hot laps, with the first session beginning between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.,
racing is still scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
Candy Dash
Boyd’s Transmission Repair, of Tennessee, is sponsoring a Candy Dash for the
kids during the opening night’s events. Don’t forget, Saturday is Big Brothers,
Big Sisters of McDonough County Night, with all the group’s little brothers and
sisters getting in free.
Car Show
Farm King will be playing host to the 2007 Macomb Raceway Car Show, which is
scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday morning, and will run through 3 p.m. The
pit gates will open at 3 p.m. as well with food being available shortly there
after.
There will be six classes of racecars in action at Macomb Raceway, including UMP
Late Models, Macomb Auto Parts Modifieds, Casey’s General Store UMP Street
Stocks, Macomb Journal UMP 4-Cylinders, Ron Elbe Auto Sales Dwarf Cars/Mod Lites
and IMRA TQ’s.
Grandstands will open at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, with $8 for Adults, $6 for Seniors,
$4 for 10-15 and $1 for 9 and under.
